Approaches to the Study of History

However, the existence of parallels and patterns in the present that correspond with the past is not an indication of history repeating itself. What does the History tell us? Nothing. The historian writes the narrative. However, the narrative is based on the fragmented historical recorded—pieced together by the historian regarding what most likely occurred in the past.
